"The Democratization of Distribution"

Philip's hands-on presentation will cover three main areas: codecs and compression and getting video online; using free distribution for profit; and how to make direct income from online distribution. Philip will start with an overview of what is Television and why it's moving to Internet distribution. Building on that we'll take a detailed look at what formats work best for online distribution and the practicalities of preparing material for digital distribution, including some pre-processing tricks and techniques to get the best quality from sites like YouTube and MySpace.

Part two of the session will cover methods that work with free distribution and yet provide a return to the producer, and in Part three we'll trace the history of Television from inception to present and how the future is likely to work, to that more producers will be able to make a decent middle class income doing what they love to do.
