EditFest NY premieres in Manhattan on June 12th, 2009 - an exciting, unique educational and networking event that brings the most sought after editors straight from the cutting room directly to the audience.
Presented by American Cinema Editors (ACE) and Manhattan Edit Workshop (Mewshop), EditFest NY will deliver vital insight into the role and process of the editor as a critical part of any creative team.
Aimed at content creators and those who work with them in the creative and the post production process, EditFest presents an opportunity to hear and meet a rare gathering of the industryʼs successful and insightful experts.
Over two tightly-programmed days, attendees - including professional editors, production executives, network and studio staff, fledgling assistants and content creators - will participate in sharply planned, targeted panels, hands-on technology training and extensive Q&A sessions. They’ll listen to, learn from and engage with the most respected, award winning editors of feature films and television. Attendees, VIPs, sponsors and panelists will also mingle at the highly anticipated opening night gala reception.
Launched with great success last year in Los Angles, EditFest NY consists of panels of expert editors who will take attendees through the exploration of a career of editing as well as analysis of their own work and careers. The event features the most respected and well-known editors working in motion pictures and television today, every one an award-winning industry expert and artist.
On Friday, EditFest NY lifts off with an opening night panel “Breaking Into the Editing Business,” followed by a gala reception at the DGA. Saturdayʼs panels include “Whatʼs So Funny: The Art of Cutting comedy,” “Truth and Fiction: The Documentary Edit,” “Small Screen, Big Picture: Editing Television,” and “From Dailies to Delivery: Feature Editing.” The panels have been designed to cover the major interest areas: comedy, reality-documentary, television and feature film.
Also, on Sunday at Manhattan Edit Workshop, a number of classes, including Certification and Tech Bootcamps have been set that offer working and aspiring editors the opportunity to learn about new tools and hone their skills.
Oscar winners. Oscar nominees. Emmy nominees. Emmy winners. Comedy Editors. Box Office mega-hit editors. Dramatic editors. Action editors.
